Job summary

AES is seeking a Solutions Engineer – Systems Integration to advance the electrical, controls, and mechanical integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for utility-scale projects. You will work with senior engineers and cross-functional teams on requirements, verification, installation, and field support.

The role emphasizes interface control, safety, reliability, and performance across project environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience in BESS, renewable energy, power systems, controls, or systems integration.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, controls, communications, and power electronics.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs and technical drawings.
• Willingness to travel to factories and project sites (~25%).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to systems engineering activities for BESS products from requirements definition through deployment and operation.
• Develop and maintain system requirements, ICDs, specifications, and compliance matrices.
• Support integration of energy storage, PCS, safety, controls, and related subsystems.
• Review electrical designs, schematics, BOMs, and submittals; document findings and coordinate actions.
• Apply BESS codes and project requirements under senior guidance.
• Support prototype builds, verification, testing, and manufacturing transition.
• Analyze test data and recommend actions within scope.
• Contribute to lessons learned, standards work, and continuous improvement.
• Perform vendor evaluations for BESS BOS suppliers.
• Provide engineering support for project integration and field operations.
• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, communications, and system-level issues.
