Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Solutions Engineer - Systems Integration to contribute to the electrical, controls, and mechanical integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for utility-scale renewable energy projects. Working with senior engineers and cross-functional partners, this role supports BESS products from requirements development through installation and operation.

The engineer helps ensure that BESS subsystems interface correctly and operate safely, reliably, and as intended

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Approximately 2–4 years of relevant engineering experience in BESS, renewables, power systems, or complex electromechanical equipment.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and system interfaces.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and BOMs.
• Experience with engineering analysis, testing, commissioning, or documentation.
• Structured problem solving and configuration control knowledge.
• Willingness to travel ~25%.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to systems engineering activities for BESS products from requirements through deployment and operation.
• Develop and maintain system requirements, ICDs, specifications, and integration docs.
• Support integration of energy storage, PCS, safety, controls, and balance-of-system components.
• Review designs and BOMs; document findings and coordinate resolutions.
• Apply relevant BESS codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and field validation.
• Analyze test/field data and recommend engineering actions.
• Contribute to lessons learned and design tool improvements.
• Perform vendor evaluations for BESS BOS components.
• Provide engineering support for integration into utility-scale projects.
• Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and system issues; conduct root cause analysis.
