Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate to manage compliance and governance of US Health & Welfare plans. You’ll ensure benefits follow applicable laws while anticipating new legislation and working across teams to keep plans well‑managed for a high‑quality associate experience.

You’ll serve as a key liaison between Benefits and HR Risk, oversee audits, SOC‑1 reviews, vendor compliance, and plan documentation, including SPDs and SMMs, while guiding incident response and HIPAA processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience.
• 3+ years of experience working with H&W employee benefit plan governance.
• MBA or Master’s Degree.
• CEBS or CBP designation.
• 4 years of experience in H&W benefits for organizations with 10,000+ employees.
• 5 years of experience with benefits governance practices.
• Strong analytical skills and problem solver.
• Solid business acumen, strategic thinker.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit state and federal filings for H&W plans (Form 5500, SARs, parity).
• Oversee nondiscrimination testing and communications based on results.
• Audit TPAs and carriers for plan terms, SLAs and PGs.
• Write and maintain plan documentation and notices (SMMs, SBCs, SPDs).
• Participate in Eligibility Claims Committee to review benefits.
• Lead HIPAA compliance and manage BAAs and breach response.
