Job summary

Arc is seeking a Senior Battery Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of battery packs at our Los Angeles headquarters. You will lead cross‑functional work with electrical engineering, perform FEA and thermal analyses, and drive packaging decisions for energy-dense, safe, manufacturable packs.

This on-site role integrates hands-on prototyping, testing, and sea-trial support. You’ll collaborate with cell selection, busbar design, HV isolation, and BMS integration while ensuring robust

Qualifications

• 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience including 3+ years in battery pack design
• Strong fundamentals in structural and thermal engineering with hands-on FEA and modeling
• Knowledge of high voltage battery systems, electrical isolation, thermal runaway and pack safety
• Experience collaborating with electrical engineers on busbars, interconnects, and BMS/sensor integration
• Proficiency with CAD (NX) and large assemblies, GD&T knowledge
• Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting hardware in production environments
• Clear written and verbal communication; strong time management and fast-paced execution

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of battery packs across product lines from concept to production
• Perform structural and thermal analysis on enclosures, busbars, and components
• Size and design pack thermal management systems and validate models with test data
• Collaborate with electrical engineering on cell selection, interconnects, HV isolation, and sensor integration
• Package packs into hull envelopes balancing energy density, mass, safety, and manufacturability
• Build and test prototypes, drive iterations from results
• Support sea trials to validate and certify systems in the field
• Interface with suppliers and support production ramp
