Job summary

Gotion Inc. in Irvine, California seeks a Sr. Staff/Principal Mechanical Engineer, Battery to lead the mechanical design of battery-pack hardware from concept to production launch.

You will own layouts, tolerances, and release criteria while coordinating with electrical, thermal, systems, CAE, manufacturing, and quality teams. You will mentor engineers, define design standards, and drive DFMEA, validation plans, and supplier collaboration to deliver durable, scalable battery modules for volume

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required; MS preferred.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in automotive, battery, or electrification hardware.
• Hands-on CAD design of battery-pack hardware through full development cycle.
• Experience delivering production-ready mechanical designs with proper release documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design battery-pack mechanical architecture including enclosures, retention, seals, and thermal hardware integration.
• Develop and own pack-level CAD layouts and production drawings for enclosures and components.
• Lead tradeoffs across safety, performance, mass, cost, packaging, and manufacturing.
• Define critical dimensions, GD&T, tolerances, and interfaces; drive formal design release.
• Collaborate with electrical, thermal, CAE, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve integration issues.
