Job summary

Arc is seeking a Senior Battery Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical design of our battery packs for demanding marine applications. You will lead pack architecture, enclosure, and packaging design across product lines, and translate concepts into robust, manufacturable hardware.

You will work closely with electrical engineering, perform FEA and thermal analyses, design cooling systems, participate in sea trials, and help scale production while maintaining safety and energy density.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in mechanical engineering, with 3+ years owning battery pack design from concept to production.
• Strong fundamentals in structural and thermal engineering; hands-on FEA, hand calculations, and numerical modeling.
• Experience with high voltage battery systems, isolation, thermal runaway, and safety considerations.
• Collaborates with electrical engineers on busbars, interconnects, and BMS/sensor integration.
• Proficient with NX CAD and GD&T for large assemblies and detailed parts.
• Practical production hardware design, debugging, and hands-on prototyping experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead battery pack mechanical design across product lines—from architecture to packaging.
• Perform structural analysis on enclosures, busbars, and components against marine loads.
• Size and design pack thermal management systems and validate with test data.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering on cell selection, busbar/interconnect design, HV isolation, and BMS integration.
• Package packs into hull envelopes balancing energy density, mass, safety, and manufacturability.
• Build and test prototypes; run thermal and structural tests and drive design iterations.
• Support sea trials to validate systems in the field.
• Interface with suppliers and support production ramp.
