Scribd, Inc. is hiring an Engineering Manager for Content Foundations to build and lead the team responsible for how content enters Scribd. This leadership role spans large-scale data infrastructure and applied AI, with responsibilities across architecture, people leadership, and cross-team collaboration.

You will set vision for real-time ingestion, drive AI-enabled capabilities, and manage a product-oriented roadmap that delivers reliable, scalable content ingestion for millions of documents.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with leadership in backend, data-infra, or platform teams.
• Deep knowledge of high-throughput distributed systems and data pipelines.
• Experience applying AI in production or strong intent to do so with ML models and LLMs.
• Platform-product mindset with interfaces, SLAs, and reusable components.
• Security-minded design for untrusted input and data protection.
• Operational excellence: reliability, observability, on-call readiness.
• Excellent cross-functional communication with product and engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and strategy for content ingestion and evolve the real-time AI-native system.
• Build AI into the heart of the platform with ML/AI teams for understanding and enrichment.
• Translate platform capabilities into measurable product impact with roadmaps.
• Lead and grow a founding backend/AI data engineering team and shape its culture.
• Run the team as a product with roadmap priorities and commitments across teams.
• Champion security as a core design principle for scalable content processing.
• Influence across org by partnering with senior leaders in trust & safety, content understanding, supply, and AI teams.
