Job summary

Robinhood Markets, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Backend Platform in New York City. You will set technical direction and lead large, multi-team initiatives to improve backend systems, frameworks, and developer tooling.

You will collaborate with infrastructure, security, and product teams, mentor engineers, and influence engineering practices to ensure scalable, reliable services. In-person attendance is expected at least 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and scaling backend systems with Go and Python.
• Deep knowledge of Django, gRPC, or similar Go-based frameworks.
• Experience designing internal platforms and shared infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead large-scale backend initiatives including frameworks and tooling.
• Design long-term scalable, reliable backend solutions across services.
• Evolve core tooling like static analysis, formatting, and scaffolding.
• Partner with infra, security, and product teams to plan improvements.
• Mentor engineers and raise code quality and design standards.
