Job summary

Robinhood in New York City is seeking a Staff Software Developer for our Backend Platform. You will set technical direction and lead large, multi-team initiatives that improve how backend systems are developed and operated.

Design platform capabilities such as service frameworks, static analysis, and developer tooling while guiding adoption across teams. You will shape scalable, reliable backend development and mentor engineers through complex system-level challenges.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building and scaling backend systems with Go and Python.
• Deep knowledge of backend frameworks such as Django, gRPC or equivalents.
• Experience designing internal platforms, developer tooling, or shared infrastructure across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead large-scale initiatives to improve backend systems, frameworks, tooling, and libraries.
• Design long-term technical solutions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability across services.
• Guide evolution of core tooling like static analysis, formatting, and service scaffolding.
• Collaborate with infra, security, and product teams to plan platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers and provide guidance to improve code quality and design.
