Job summary

CVS Health seeks a hands-on Backend Capability Product Specialist to own the backend platform, API ecosystem, and third‑party integration layer of our SaaS product suite. You will bridge engineering, business strategy, and market intelligence to drive scalable, interoperable systems powering internal capabilities and partner integrations.

Lead API design, governance, and integrations with EHR/EMR platforms, evaluate HL7 FHIR/TEFCA standards, and build ROI-driven business cases for platform

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of product management experience.
• 4+ years focused on backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
• Proven track record delivering SaaS platform features at scale in an enterprise context.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and modern integration patterns.
• Experience with API management platforms (Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
• Ability to build ROI-based business cases and market sizing.
• Leadership experience in API/platform product strategy.

Responsibilities

• Own the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform capabilities.
• Define API design standards, versioning, and developer experience principles.
• Drive scalable, event-driven microservices architecture in collaboration with engineering.
• Lead strategy and execution for third-party integrations and marketplace ecosystem development.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive landscape to inform the backend roadmap.
• Serve as the primary product owner embedded with backend engineering squads.
