Job summary

Hims & Hers Health, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to design and implement scalable, high-performance backend solutions. You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and drive platform technology choices across cross-functional teams.

You will collaborate on product discovery, ensure strong observability, and improve system reliability and performance while shaping the technical direction of the engineering organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a software engineer shipping production code.
• 3+ years of experience with back end distributed system design, development, and delivery.
• 3+ years of experience with microservice architectures.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of scalable backend solutions.
• Mentor engineers on best practices, design patterns, and coding standards.
• Advocate for the team’s technical needs within the engineering organization.
• Participate in product discovery sessions to assess feasibility and define features.
• Work with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and communication across systems.
• Contribute to the vision for the team and platform as a technical leader.
• Break down complex projects into clear, actionable tasks.
• Implement observability practices across the platform (logging, monitoring, alerting).
• Elevate engineering standards by improving workflows, processes, and tools.
• Analyze performance metrics and user feedback to identify improvements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for architecture and development processes.
• Conduct code reviews and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose performance improvements.
• Stay updated with industry trends and propose innovative solutions.
• Assist with interviews and onboarding new engineers.
• Provide coaching to junior team members.
