Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to join the Coinbase One team. You will own backend systems powering the subscription lifecycle, from sign-up and payments to benefit delivery and personalized experiences for millions of customers.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, ship, and operate these services, while improving reliability and performance across the Coinbase One backend stack. Remote-first, with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience shipping and operating production services at scale.
• Experience with subscription, payments, or commerce systems, including recurring billing and entitlements.
• Proficiency in Go or a similar backend language with ability to adapt to a Go-centric codebase.
• Experience designing APIs and distributed systems across web and mobile surfaces.
• History of taking ambiguous projects from scoping to production with cross-functional partners.
• Awareness of responsible use of generative AI to improve workflows and quality.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and operation of backend services powering the Coinbase One membership lifecycle.
• Build scalable platform capabilities for targeted benefits, promotions, and personalized experiences.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, and payments teams to ship features end-to-end.
• Drive backend architecture decisions for reliability, extensibility, and integration with Coinbase platform services.
• Improve service reliability, observability, and performance across Coinbase One's backend stack.
