Job summary

rePurpose Global is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable server-side services for our packaging sustainability platform. You will drive API design, cloud infrastructure, and secure software practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have strong Node.js and TypeScript skills, experience with AWS, DevOps, and modern frameworks, and a passion for AI-enabled tooling to advance our product and impact.

Qualifications

• Experience building scalable, production-grade backend apps using Node.js.
• Strong API design, service architecture, and performance optimization.
• Hands-on AWS, DevOps, and IaC (Terraform/CDK).
• Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with TypeScript for backend data modeling.
• Able to collaborate across frontend and backend teams in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable server-side services and APIs.
• Own and evolve AWS cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, and monitoring.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle from planning to deployment.
• Optimize codebase for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate requirements.
• Evaluate AI tooling and technologies to enhance the product and capabilities.
