Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Payments team. You will design and build scalable backend services that power fiat on- and off-ramps for millions of users, partnering with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to drive payment capabilities worldwide.

In this role, you will own features end-to-end—from design through production deployment and monitoring—build self-serve APIs, and improve reliability, observability, and performance across high-volume payment

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in production services.
• Proficiency in Go or equivalent languages and designing scalable APIs.
• Experience owning features end-to-end in fast-moving environments.
• Experience with financial/payments systems requiring precision.
• Responsible use of AI to improve workflows with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services for payment processing using Go.
• Own end-to-end delivery of payment features from design to deployment.
• Build platform primitives and self-serve APIs for other Coinbase teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and leadership to translate requirements.
• Improve system reliability, observability, and performance of payment services.
• Contribute to engineering quality through code reviews and best-practices advocacy.
