Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Payments team within the Platform organization. You will design and build scalable backend services for payment processing and own features end-to-end, from design through deployment and production support.

You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and senior leadership to translate business requirements into technical plans, improve reliability, and expand payment capabilities globally across rails and currencies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in production services.
• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages with scalable APIs.
• Experience owning features end-to-end in a fast-moving environment.
• Experience with financial systems or high-volume transactional systems.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant backend services for payment processing.
• Own end-to-end delivery from design to production deployment and monitoring.
• Build platform primitives and self-serve APIs for adding new payment methods.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and leadership to translate vision into plans.
• Improve system reliability, observability, and performance across payment services.
• Contribute to engineering quality through code reviews and best practices.
