Job summary

Zip Co Limited in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the payments infrastructure powering card issuing, transaction processing and settlement at scale. You’ll own end-to-end systems, integrate with Stripe Issuing and banking partners, and apply AI to improve reliability and delivery speed.

This remote-first role is US-based with an option to work in-person from the Manhattan office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining complex production systems.
• Deep experience with .NET/C#, Azure Cloud Services, and distributed backend systems.
• Experience designing systems using Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS and event-driven architectures.
• Experience building payment infrastructure, card issuing or transaction processing systems.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical initiatives from architecture to production.
• Strong understanding of reliability, observability, automated testing, performance and incident management.
• Experience with security, compliance, and operational considerations in financial systems.
• Proven ability to influence decisions and mentor across teams.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve quality and speed.

Responsibilities

• Own complex technical problems from design through production.
• Contribute to architectural direction and partner with Product, Engineering and Infra.
• Build reliable services that handle high transaction volumes.
• Design integrations with Stripe Issuing and banking partners.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Apply AI throughout the software lifecycle to improve quality and speed.
