Job summary

Zip Co Limited’s engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build payments infrastructure powering card issuing, transaction processing, and settlement across Zip’s platforms.

You will own complex technical initiatives, influence architecture, and collaborate with Product, Engineering and Infrastructure. You’ll apply AI across the lifecycle to improve quality, speed, and problem-solving while upholding security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field; graduate degree a plus.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining complex production systems.
• Deep experience with .NET/C#, Azure Cloud Services, and distributed backend systems.
• Experience designing systems using DDD, CQRS and event-driven architectures.
• Experience building payment infrastructure, card issuing or transaction processing systems, including platforms such as Stripe Issuing, Marqeta or comparable in-house solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to independently own complex technical initiatives from architecture through production delivery.
• Strong understanding of reliability, observability, automated testing, system performance and production incident management.

Responsibilities

• Design and build systems behind card issuing, transaction processing and settlement.
• Own complex technical initiatives from design through production delivery.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing.
• Partner with Product, Engineering and Infrastructure to navigate technical tradeoffs and deliver solutions.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality and testing.
• Ensure security, compliance and operational reliability of mission-critical financial systems.
