Recruiting from Scratch is seeking an experienced backend-focused engineer to design and build the next generation of our payments infrastructure for a fast-growing AI-driven platform. You will own payout orchestration, settlement processing, reconciliation, and ledger management at a global scale.

You will work with Stripe/Adyen integrations, build highly reliable services, and drive observability across complex payment workflows, partnering with Engineering, Finance, Product, and Operations to

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or financial infrastructure.
• Proven scalable backend services with reliability and observability.
• Experience integrating payment gateways (Stripe/Adyen).
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Experience with Go, Rust, C++ or similar languages.
• Familiarity with Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS.
• Built large-scale production systems with strong monitoring and incident response practices.
• Ability to balance velocity with long-term reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design and build payments infrastructure for large-scale global operations.
• Develop reliable backends for payout orchestration, settlement, reconciliation, and ledger management.
• Establish end-to-end observability across payment workflows.
• Create immutable ledger systems ensuring financial correctness and scalability.
• Automate treasury, payout, and financial operations workflows.
• Architect settlement ingestion and reconciliation across providers.
• Improve resilience and fault tolerance in distributed systems.
• Integrate with banking APIs and payment processors while maintaining portability.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Finance, Product, Operations, and Fraud teams.
