Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Backend Engineer in Observability and Anomaly Detection to join the Monetization team and build telemetry, detection, and reconciliation tooling.

You’ll work on end-to-end monitoring across Billing and usage pipelines, using AI/ML to predict and resolve issues in a remote, asynchronous environment, with a greenfield team and strong emphasis on reliability.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ruby on Rails and backend systems.
• Background in site reliability or observability engineering, including monitoring, alerting, SLOs, SLIs, and runbooks.
• Experience building anomaly detection, monitoring, or risk management tooling.
• Exposure to billing/financial systems and data stores used for reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate metrics, logs, and traces across the Monetization stack.
• Implement automated detection for billing, data, and event anomalies and route alerts to teams.
• Develop reconciliation and data integrity checks across usage and billing pipelines.
• Define and track SLOs/SLIs, write runbooks, and participate in incident handling.
• Explore AI/ML techniques to predict system anomalies and accelerate resolution.
• Review merge requests and provide feedback to Monitization engineers.
• Collaborate with Product, Finance, Support, and other partners to build reliable tooling.
