Job summary

Plane is seeking a skilled backend engineer to own the Node.js and TypeScript services that power importers, integrations, and developer surfaces. You will ensure reliable data movement, robust APIs, and resilient workers across systems like Jira, Linear, Slack, and GitHub.

You will collaborate with Django engineers, design scalable queues, handle retries and idempotency, and shape the developer experience for external builders.

Qualifications

• Shipped Node.js and TypeScript to production.
• Experience with Express or NestJS.
• Built queue and worker systems with retries and idempotency.
• Integrated with third-party APIs with rate limits and tokens that expire.
• Comfortable working with Postgres and writing/optimizing queries.

Responsibilities

• Own the Node.js/TypeScript services that carry data between systems (Slack, GitHub, Jira, Linear).
• Own the importer/migration tools to move data without loss.
• Design the queue/worker architecture including retries and idempotency.
• Build the developer-facing surface for external builders to write apps against Plane.
• Collaborate with Django engineers and respond to public GitHub issues.
