Job summary

Vanta is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to lead and mentor engineers while delivering high-value products. You’ll set technical direction and drive complex projects across our stack, enabling our security-focused platform to scale with business growth.

You’ll build secure backend services with TypeScript, React, and Node.js, own APIs, authentication, and data ingestion, and help accelerate development with AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend development building reliable, scalable systems.
• Platform and API design including RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Experience with authentication protocols (OAuth, API keys, JWT) and security best practices.
• Data integrations from external systems with rate limiting, retries, idempotency, webhooks.
• Systems thinking at scale; reliability and failure mode focus.
• Technical leadership and cross-team influence; mentoring teammates.
• Internal enablement via docs, sample integrations and POCs.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy and direction for critical platform areas, staying ahead of rapid growth.
• Design and evolve the APIs, primitives, and self-service golden paths that internal teams, partners, and customers build on.
• Own the authentication, data-ingestion, and schema-evolution primitives that keep integrations secure and scalable.
• Build secure, well-documented backend services and developer tooling (including CI/CD).
• Drive performance, operational excellence, and SDLC best practices; buy-vs-build decisions.
• Mentor and uplevel teammates; set team design patterns.
• Build with TypeScript, React, and Node.js; use AI tools to accelerate development.
