Job summary

LVT is seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to architect and scale our core backend, delivering high-velocity, resilient services in a hybrid Seattle office. You will mentor peers, shape engineering standards, and drive initiatives that impact safety, compliance, and operations.

You will work with cross-functional teams to translate complex business needs into robust cloud services, leveraging OpenAPI/REST and GraphQL, and using modern frameworks like NestJS with Docker/Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on complex backend systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of production Node.js and TypeScript experience.
• Expertise in OpenAPI/REST API design and GraphQL.
• Experience with NestJS and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong relational database modeling and SQL performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic technical leadership across backend architecture.
• Deliver scalable Node.js/TypeScript services for business-critical systems.
• Mentor engineers and elevate coding standards.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and tooling to boost productivity.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and DevOps to translate requirements into specs.
• Identify bottlenecks and ensure uptime and resilience of services.
• Guide teams in Agile environments and drive engineering culture.
