Job summary

ClassPass is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and evolve the backend systems powering our platform. You will partner with Product, Design, and QA to move ideas from concept to production in a reliable, scalable manner, while championing testing, code reviews, and strong observability.

You will design robust microservices, work with SQL databases, and help shape architecture across a growing service-oriented ecosystem. A collaborative, autonomous team culture is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience (8+ years) building and operating backend systems for large-scale SaaS platforms.
• Proficiency in object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, C#, and comfort in a mixed stack.
• Experience architecting and designing backend services in a microservices environment.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic or Kibana and proactive risk mitigation.
• Solid understanding of SDLC, design patterns, and Agile methodologies.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills with performance focus.
• Clear communicator who collaborates across roles and styles.
• Motivation to deliver meaningful solutions and support growth.

Responsibilities

• Help build and evolve backend systems powering ClassPass, partnering with Product, Design, and QA to take ideas from concept to production.
• Deliver features from ideation through deployment, iterating on feedback and outcomes.
• Design and develop backend services and APIs that are robust and maintainable.
• Promote engineering excellence through automated testing, code reviews, and monitoring.
• Drive simplicity by reducing unnecessary complexity while preserving reliability.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and how microservices interact in a service-oriented ecosystem.
