Job summary

Affirm is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity Data) to own and deliver high-availability systems for onboarding and authentication across product surfaces. Remote US with salary in the base pay range, flexible, and equity options.

You will lead engineers, collaborate with product/design/analytics, and set technical standards while growing talent and ensuring reliable systems.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin in production.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes for distributed systems.
• Ability to plan delivery of large features with simple, extensible design.
• Strong ownership, feedback culture, and writing clean, testable code.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals for the team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics across the lifecycle.
• Identify and drive resolution of project/process/tech issues.
• Maintain operation and availability of artifacts; monitor metrics.
• Elevate code quality with standards and architecture discussions.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to growth.
