Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking an experienced backend engineering leader to own technical direction for Identity-scale systems. You will guide architecture, drive implementation for highly available services, and partner with product and analytics for scalable outcomes.

You will influence across teams, set standards for reliability, and mentor engineers to deliver high-impact features in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Deliver major features or deprecate functionality with a clear technical and execution plan; write high-quality code.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long timescale and align with business goals.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ensure sustainability, risk and trade-offs are understood.
• Advocate for technical solutions and operational processes to improve team impact.
• Own your team’s operations, monitoring, triage, playbooks and on-call readiness.
• Define and enforce code reviews and design standards across teams.
• Mentor team members and lead by example to develop talent.
