Job summary

Anthropic is building safe, reliable AI systems and a hosted platform for production agents across Claude. The role focuses on backend and distributed systems to support durable session-based workflows, sandbox orchestration, and multi-tenant reliability.

You’ll collaborate with research, product, and developer experience to turn ambitious ideas into shipped platform capabilities. Location preference includes NY, SEA, SF or the Bay Area, with a compensation range of $405,000 to $485,000 USD per

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure engineer.
Built and operated stateful, long-running, or high-throughput systems in production with durability and reliability in mind.
Strong product sense and treat API design as a craft; collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

Scale the platform by designing and operating durable session storage, sandbox orchestration, streaming, scheduling, and multi-tenant isolation.
Evolve the harness and prove it with eval infrastructure and benchmarks against research baselines and real workloads.
Help customers build with Claude by delivering capabilities for outcome-driven execution, multi-agent orchestration, memory, and observability.
