Job summary

Lightning AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the backend systems powering AI agent orchestration and execution. You’ll create scalable APIs and platform capabilities for tool use, workflow orchestration, memory, and state management.

You’ll partner with Core Platform, Training & Experimentation, Sandboxes, and Optimized Compute to deliver reliable, scalable capabilities, with a strong emphasis on observability and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience building scalable backend systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and APIs.
• Hands-on with production services at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services for AI agent orchestration.
• Develop scalable APIs for tool use, workflow orchestration, memory and state management.
• Build reliable infrastructure for long-running distributed AI workflows.
• Collaborate with product, research, and platform teams to bring new capabilities to production.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, and performance as workloads scale.
• Evaluate architecture and engineering processes for improvement.
• Maintain high software quality through testing, automation, and delivery.
• Mentor engineers on system design and backend best practices.
