Job summary

GoodLeap is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and scale backend services that power contractor financial tools and payments. You will partner with product, design, finance, risk, and operations to deliver secure, reliable software that reduces friction and gives contractors better control over finances.

You will mentor engineers, shape system design, and advance observability and incident response while delivering end-to-end solutions from design to deployment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience in backend-focused roles.
• Strong backend expertise with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Experience building scalable, secure distributed systems and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and evolve scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services for contractor financial tools
• Build secure and reliable capabilities that support payments and other financial workflows
• Integrate with internal and external systems while keeping services maintainable and extensible
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Finance, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into resilient technical solutions
• Drive the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, and post-launch support
• Mentor and guide engineers across the team, setting high standards for system design, security, scalability, and code quality
• Champion operational excellence through strong practices around observability, documentation, monitoring, alerting, and incident response
