GoodLeap is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and scale backend services powering contractor financial tools and payments. You will build high-performance APIs, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, Design, Finance, Risk, and Operations to deliver reliable, secure systems.

You’ll lead full SDLC, champion observability, and drive architectural decisions across payments and financial workflows, with a strong emphasis on maintainability and scalability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with backend focus.
• Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Strong system design skills for scalable, reliable distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and collaborative leadership mindset.
• Mentorship and fostering engineering best practices.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and evolve scalable APIs and backend services for contractor financial tools.
• Build secure and reliable capabilities that support payments and other financial workflows.
• Integrate with internal and external systems while keeping services maintainable and extensible.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Finance, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into resilient technical solutions.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle from design through testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Mentor engineers across the team, setting high standards for design, security, scalability, and code quality.
• Champion operational excellence through observability, documentation, monitoring, and incident response.
