Job summary

GoodLeap is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to design and scale backend services that power contractor financial tools, including payments and other financial workflows. You will collaborate with product, design, finance, risk, and operations to deliver secure, reliable solutions.

You will mentor engineers, raise the bar for system design, security, and observability, and drive end-to-end delivery from design through post-launch support.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Backend expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Strong system design skills for scalable, reliable distributed systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership mindset.
• Mentoring others and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and evolve scalable, high-performance APIs and backend services for contractor financial tools.
• Build secure and reliable capabilities that support payments and other financial workflows.
• Integrate with internal and external systems while keeping services maintainable and extensible.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Finance, Risk, and Operations to translate business needs into resilient technical solutions.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Mentor and guide engineers, setting high standards for system design, security, and code quality.
• Champion operational excellence with observability, monitoring, and incident response.
