Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Financing Engineering team to design, build, and scale backend services that manage billions in loans across Portfolio Margin and related areas. You will own critical systems that drive revenue and platform reliability.

You will collaborate with Product, Risk, and Operations, mentor engineers, and push for high-quality design and robust production readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with ownership of high-reliability services.
• Proven track record designing and scaling service-oriented architectures in Go, Java, or similar.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems with emphasis on correctness and data integrity.
• Ability to mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise code quality.
• Familiarity with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and cloud-native observability tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of new financing products from architecture to production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks for loan lifecycle management and risk calculations.
• Improve tooling, testing infrastructure, monitoring, and reliability across financing systems.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Operations to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead initiatives to strengthen system resilience and safe speed of shipping.
