Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Financing Engineering team within the Institutional group. You will design, build, and scale backend services that safely manage billions of dollars in loans across Portfolio Margin, Trade Finance, Agency Lending, Bilateral Lending, and more.

You'll own critical backend services, drive reliability, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, Risk, Operations to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering with production ownership.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling service-oriented architectures in Go/Java.
• Experience building and operating distributed systems where correctness, availability, and data integrity matter.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, lead technical design reviews, and raise code quality.
• Familiarity with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and observability tooling in cloud-native environments.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of new financing products from architecture through production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks for loan lifecycle, risk calculations, and real-time position tracking.
• Improve developer tooling, testing infrastructure, monitoring, and reliability across financing systems.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Operations, and other teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Lead technical initiatives to strengthen system resilience and enable safe, rapid shipping.
