Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a fully remote Senior Software Engineer to join the Datastore team, focusing on backend data infrastructure, SQL hand-tuning, and scalable data pipelines across clinical studies and digital health products.

You will design and integrate new services, own data pipelines, and collaborate with platform teams to unlock new workflows, writing SQL by hand and reasoning about schema, indexes, and queries.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience, including data platforms and backend infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in SQL with PostgreSQL experience; hand-written queries and schema design.
• Hands-on data streaming and event processing with Kafka or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Python or Julia; experience with Julia is a strong plus but optional.
• Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments (Kubernetes) and IaC tools (Terraform/Helm).
• Collaborative mindset and excellent asynchronous communication skills.
• Self-directed and comfortable in hybrid or fully remote teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale backend data infrastructure including PostgreSQL models and Kafka pipelines.
• Own pipelines delivering dataset snapshots into data warehouse and support APIs.
• Draft RFCs and lead technical design discussions for new features.
• Ensure data integrity, idempotency, and robustness across systems.
• Contribute to documentation, tooling, and dashboards to improve usability.
