Axion is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own data ingestion pipelines and production data onboarding across dozens of enterprise systems.

You will collaborate with Engineering and Product leadership to define data mapping, validation, and preparation for use in the Axion platform, ensuring data integrity and reliability.

This role requires 5+ years of backend experience with Python, strong cloud and Kubernetes expertise, and a data-first mindset in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with Python
• Strong cloud architecture experience—designing, deploying, and operating distributed services
• Deep PostgreSQL relational modeling, performance, migrations, schema design
• Track record solving complex data integration problems from heterogeneous sources
• Data-first philosophy guiding decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving contexts
• Mentorship experience helping engineers grow without formal authority
• Ability to balance MVP delivery with production-grade reliability

Responsibilities

• Own technical architecture for data ingestion pipelines, schemas, and validation
• Build and harden backend services and cloud infra (Python, Postgres, Kubernetes) for fast onboarding
• Solve integration challenges from warranty, telematics, ERP, and service systems
• Establish data quality, lineage, monitoring, and alerting standards
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and customer teams to shape data onboarding roadmap
• Raise engineering standards through reviews, docs, and technical direction
• Mentor engineers on data architecture and system design
