Pearson is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve scalable backend systems and distributed architectures in a cloud-native, AWS-centric environment. You will drive technical discovery, design, and delivery while maintaining reliability and production readiness.

The role emphasizes modernization, technical debt reduction, and collaboration with cross-functional teams across distributed locations to deliver high-quality software and operational support.

Formación

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend systems.
• Experience as technical lead or senior engineer for complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of backend concepts: distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, resiliency, and performance.
• Proficient in at least one modern strongly typed language (Java, Kotlin, Scala, C#, Go, Rust, TypeScript).
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, asynchronous workflows, event-driven architectures, and streaming systems.
• Cloud-native engineering with AWS and related services.

Responsabilidades

• Lead architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build scalable, reliable, secure backend services and event-driven architectures.
• Own major engineering initiatives from discovery through delivery and production rollout.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop and communicate technical proposals with clear architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
