Job summary

Toast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and own backend services and integrations across Salesforce, billing systems, identity verification, and AI-enabled case management workflows.

You will partner with Salesforce developers, operations, and AI engineers to translate complex business processes into reliable automation. The role emphasizes scalable, maintainable systems and a culture of innovation.

Qualifications

5+ years delivering production backend systems at scale.
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or another object‑oriented language.
Familiarity with API lifecycle management, including versioning, documentation, and deprecation.
Strong understanding of query languages, data modeling, and data distribution.
Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and own backend services and APIs powering Customer Care workflows.
Build and maintain integrations across Salesforce, billing middleware, document management, and iPaaS platforms.
Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to maintain quality and reliability.
Monitor feature rollouts, respond to incidents, and iterate based on performance data and feedback.
Collaborate with product, design, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver on goals.
Leverage AI tools to improve development velocity and contribute to innovative workflows.
