Job summary

Toast is seeking an AI/Agent Engineer to join the Care Automation team, building AI-powered automations across care systems like Salesforce Service Cloud and Amazon Connect. You will work with engineers, Salesforce developers, and operations to deploy production-grade AI solutions that reduce manual effort and improve outcomes for agents and customers.

You will design and implement intelligent automations, prototype agentic workflows, and ensure robust testing and monitoring across the AI stack,

Qualifications

5+ years of software engineering experience with production AI/ML systems.
Practical experience with large language models, agentic frameworks, and prompt engineering.
Strong backend engineering skills in Python, Java, or Go.
Experience with event-driven architectures and building integrations across enterprise systems.
Ability to evaluate trade-offs between automation accuracy, latency, and cost in production AI systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate AI-powered automations and agentic workflows for Care Agents.
Build and maintain integrations between LLM-based systems and care tech stack (Salesforce, Amazon Connect, iPaaS).
Prototype and iterate agentic solutions with human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
Write automated tests and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality.
Monitor AI system performance, respond to incidents, and iterate based on data and feedback.
Translate care workflows into intelligent, automated solutions with stakeholders.
Leverage AI-augmented development tools to increase velocity and quality.
