Job summary

Offchainlabs is hiring for a senior backend engineer focused on blockchain scalability and security. This role emphasizes Go or Rust development, distributed systems, and collaboration with research teams to advance Arbitrum on Ethereum.

The position is 100% remote within the United States, reporting to the New York HQ. Candidates should have 3+ years in backend/blockchain or related fields and experience with WebAssembly, cloud infrastructure, and containerization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or U.S. equivalent in CS, Cybersecurity, CE, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional backend/blockchain backend experience (Go or Rust).
• In lieu of degree, Master's +3 years of experience accepted.
• 3 years backend systems in Go or Rust.
• Experience with L1/L2 blockchain protocols and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Work on core infrastructure powering Arbitrum and blockchain scaling.
• Tackle complex distributed systems challenges, optimize performance and security.
• Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams on cutting-edge blockchain tech.
• Provide engineering guidance to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Maintain Nitro Testnode and related tooling for local Arbitrum nodes.
• Conduct peer code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
• Shape backend architectural standards and tech stack choices.
• Design high-performance compiler pipelines and extensible SDK frameworks.
• Collaborate with security to address vulnerabilities in distributed systems.
• Drive technical roadmap with Product for scalable systems and data models.
