Offchain is leading in blockchain scalability and security, building infrastructure for Arbitrum and related ecosystems. We seek a senior software engineer to shape the backend, collaborate across teams, and advance distributed systems at scale.

The role offers 100% remote work for candidates in the United States, with a path to influence the product roadmap and architecture with a world-class engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or US-equivalent in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5 years of professional experience designing, developing, and securing blockchain-based backend systems.
• In lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years, Master’s + 3 years in blockchain backend design and security.

Responsibilities

• Work on core infrastructure powering Arbitrum, the leading Ethereum scaling solution (20%).
• Address complex distributed systems challenges; optimize performance and security (10%).
• Collaborate with research, product, and engineering teams on cutting-edge blockchain tech (10%).
• Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to clients and internal stakeholders (10%).
• Maintain the Nitro Testnode product, including enhancements and reliability (10%).
• Conduct peer code reviews to ensure quality and architectural consistency (15%).
• Establish backend architectural standards and tech-stack selections (5%).
• Design high-performance compiler pipelines and SDK frameworks (10%).
• Coordinate with Security to resolve complex security issues (5%).
• Drive technical roadmap with Product for data modeling and API-first strategies (5%).
