Job summary

Affim is a remote-first company building a scalable AI Platform powering AI workloads for engineering teams and production workloads. You’ll own design and execution of gateway, runtime, and evaluation services handling millions of transactions with strong emphasis on security, reliability, and cost attribution.

You’ll collaborate with security, infrastructure, and product teams while mentoring engineers and enforcing high standards for design and code quality.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record building highly available distributed systems with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agents, or AI frameworks in production: inference APIs, gateways, tool calls, evals, runtimes.
• Understanding of AI usage and infrastructure to support AI workloads across disciplines.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivering significant features with elegant, extensible design.
• Ability to make significant changes in a large codebase and build tools for safe execution.
• A proactive approach to growth, feedback, and collaboration with stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication for global teams.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and own technical decisions and projects within the AI Platform team.
• Design and build gateway, runtime, and evaluation services for AI workloads at scale.
• Implement identity, quota, routing, caching, and failover controls for safe AI adoption.
• Partner with security, infra, and product teams to set guardrails for agentic workloads.
• Create and monitor metrics; maintain operational health, runbooks, and on-call readiness.
• Set and promote design and code review standards across teams.
• Leverage AI-tools and agentic workflows to multiply team output.
• Educate and mentor engineers; drive best practices in design, coding, and testing.
