Job summary

Verkada in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and improve internal tools and systems that empower developers, sales, and support. You will work on cloud-based workflows, licensing handling, and tooling that scales with millions of devices.

This onsite role offers the chance to contribute to security and privacy features, AI-powered tooling, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Interest in learning about new infrastructure products, features, and strategies.
• Comfortable with frontier of infrastructure and software development.
• Experience in Python and/or Go.
• Experience with AWS or major cloud platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communications.
• Terraform experience preferred.
• Kubernetes experience preferred.
• Istio service mesh experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend tooling to empower developers, sales, and support.
• Improve licensing handling.
• Refactor monolith tool into smaller, more manageable tools.
• Improve the feature flags system.
• Build AI-powered tooling.
• Enhance security and privacy tooling.
• Contribute to open-source systems used by Verkada.
