Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build a next-generation reliability platform for Affirm's production systems. You will blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to give teams a single place to understand, debug, and improve health of services.

This is a highly creative, hands-on role emphasizing rapid iteration, quality, and maintainability while maintaining high reliability standards and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Proficiency with Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping web apps using React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks for automation.
• Ability to plan delivery of major features with clean design.
• Strong code ownership and collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, guiding engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics across the product lifecycle.
• Identify issues and lead efforts to solve project, process, or tech problems.
• Support operations and availability by monitoring metrics and on-call efforts.
• Set and improve code review and design standards beyond your team.
• Develop talent by giving feedback and leading by example.
