Elastic is seeking a senior backend engineer to design, ship, and maintain production-grade systems. You will own end-to-end development, from problem framing to production operation, enforcing strict security and data integrity.

The role emphasizes API design, data modeling, and integration with diverse systems, using TypeScript, Python, or Java. You will work with AI coding agents to accelerate delivery while upholding design and test-driven quality gates.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience designing, shipping and maintaining production backend systems through failures and changing requirements.
• Strong API and data design: clear contracts and data models.
• Experience integrating with APIs, databases, event streams safely and efficiently.

Responsabilités

• Take an open business problem, decide what to build and what to leave out, and turn it into a clear spec, data model and API contracts.
• Build internal applications that replace paid, specialized tools.
• Solve hard parts: reading data from multiple systems, storing sensitive data securely, enforcing server-side permissions.
• Design and evolve shared building blocks: data connectors, authorization, migrations, search and reporting.
• Build with AI coding agents and ensure tests and interface contracts guide progress.
• Own what you build for its entire life from development to production operations and retirement.
• Help set architecture and testing standards, feeding learnings back into Elastic's products.
