Job summary

Fuel Talent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale data-heavy backend systems in a healthcare technology setting. You’ll own critical services, collaborate with product, data, DevOps, and business teams, and help drive architectural decisions.

The role focuses on Python or TypeScript, cloud infrastructure on AWS, and modern CI/CD with Docker and Kubernetes. You’ll use AI-assisted coding tools to improve productivity and mentoring junior engineers, while maintaining

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of software engineering experience delivering backend APIs and data processing.
• Relational databases design and data modeling.
• Strong system design fundamentals and cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Comfort using AI coding assistants and automation to improve productivity.
• Strong communication and collaborative approach to knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver backend systems, including data-intensive production applications.
• Contribute to technical direction, coding and design standards.
• Use and champion AI coding tools in daily workflow.
• Collaborate with and mentor engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Partner with product, data, DevOps, and business teams to scope and deliver solutions.
• Contribute to testing strategy, system health, observability, and infrastructure decisions.
