Job summary

Anthropic is seeking experienced backend and distributed systems engineers to join the Agentic Systems team. You will own systems end to end, from API design to production operations, building scalable, multi-tenant platforms for Claude Managed Agents.

You will collaborate with research, product, and developer experience teams to define what “managed” means for next-gen agents and ensure reliability and cost efficiency across environments and clouds.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend or distributed systems experience.
• Built and operated stateful, long-running, or high-throughput systems.
• Strong product sense and API design for developer experience.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and operating in early-stage or mature teams.
• Experience with Claude or AI tools as part of software development.
• Ownership of projects from design to on-call and operations.
• Care about building reusable, well-loved systems.

Responsibilities

• Scale the platform with durable sessions and multi-tenant isolation.
• Evolve the harness and build eval infrastructure against baselines.
• Help customers get the most out of Claude with feature-rich APIs.
• Design APIs for agents, environments, sessions, vaults, and event streams.
