Job summary

Anthropic is seeking experienced backend and distributed systems engineers to join the Agentic Systems team within the Platform organization. You will own end-to-end platform capabilities, including session management, sandbox orchestration, and stable, scalable APIs that support Claude-managed agents across environments.

You’ll collaborate with research, product, and developer experience teams to turn ambiguous ideas into shipped platform features, driving the next generation of agent harnesses

Qualifications

• 8+ years as backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure engineer.
• Experience building stateful, long-running, or high-throughput systems in production.
• Strong product sense; API design as a craft; cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity; experience in both early-stage and mature teams.
• Experience with Claude or AI tooling is a plus.
• Ownership from design through build, deployment, and on-call operations.

Responsibilities

• Scale the platform: design and operate durable sessions, sandbox orchestration, and multi-tenant isolation.
• Evolve the harness and build eval infrastructure to measure quality against baselines and workloads.
• Help customers maximize value of Claude with safe, high-performance tooling.
• Design APIs that endure as implementations evolve and contracts remain stable.
