Job summary

Anthropic is seeking experienced backend and distributed systems engineers to join the Agentic Systems team. You will own end-to-end platform capabilities for Claude Managed Agents, including session management, sandbox orchestration, and API design used by internal and external customers.

You'll work with product, research, and developer experience teams to evolve the harness, measure its quality with evals, and push the boundaries of durable, scalable agent platforms while maintaining safety

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend, distributed systems, or infrastructure engineering experience.
• Experience building and operating stateful, long-running, high-throughput systems in production.
• Strong product sense and API design as a craft with cross-functional collaboration.
• Comfort with 0→1 work and navigating ambiguity in early-stage or mature teams.
• Familiarity with Claude or AI tool usage and agent harness concepts.
• Ownership from design through deployment and on-call operations.
• Care about building scalable systems that others love to use.

Responsibilities

• Scale the platform with long-lived sessions and multi-tenant isolation.
• Evolve the harness, build eval infrastructure, and measure quality against baselines.
• Help customers maximize value from Claude and agent platform capabilities.
• Design APIs, environments, sessions, vaults, and event streams with stable contracts.
