Job summary

Pearson is hiring a senior software engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend systems in a cloud-first, AWS-driven environment. You will own major engineering initiatives end-to-end, including discovery, architecture, implementation, deployment, and production support.

You will collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations teams across global sites to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable software while modernizing the platform and reducing technical debt.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical initiatives and teams.
• Strong backend, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture knowledge.
• Proficiency with modern typed languages (Java/TypeScript/Go/Scala/C#).

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build scalable backend services and event-driven, streaming solutions on AWS.
• Own major initiatives from discovery to production rollout and support.
• Drive modernization, reliability, and technical debt reduction while delivering new features.
