Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer) II to modernize a healthcare data platform by migrating from MSSQL/XML to cloud-native AWS architecture. You will enable SQL-based reporting for business stakeholders, design data storage options across S3, Athena, Redshift, and OpenSearch, and optimize cost and performance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field is required or equivalent practical experience.
8+ years of experience in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
Proven experience architecting cloud data platform migrations in enterprise or healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

Lead the next phase of the healthcare data platform modernization.
Migrate from MSSQL XML object store to a scalable AWS data architecture.
Architect the migration path for XML data into the AWS platform with optimal formats and partitioning.
Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata management.
Collaborate with back-end engineers to ensure data flows from EDI processing into the data layer.
Implement CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure using AWS-native tooling.
