Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks a Senior Safety Engineer to join the Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety team. You will influence system-level design decisions and guide safety milestones for avionics used in regional jets, business aircraft, and commercial transports.

You will collaborate across disciplines and with customers to develop safety plans, perform analyses, and mentor peers in a highly technical environment. This role combines rigor with cross-functional impact.

Qualifications

• University degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience in aircraft systems, hardware, or software engineering.
• Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools.
• Working knowledge of ARP4761.
• Basic knowledge in ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297.
• Experience presenting technical information to peers, management, and customers.
• Experience coordinating projects and complex engineering activities.
• Verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead ARP4761 civil safety assessments aligned with customer and leadership.
• Review System Safety Plans, FHAs, PSSAs, SSAs, FTAs, and CMAs.
• Support engineering teams in defining safety requirements during development.
• Analyze continued airworthiness risk for field issues.
• Mentor and train junior safety engineers.
